How can we help?
Most questions are about invite codes and sharing, so those come first. If none of this covers it, write toeesoymilk@gmail.com and you will reach the person who makes Pebbles.
Joining a shared path
I tapped an invite link and nothing happened.
Open the link and tap Open in Pebbles. Invite links open the app directly only once Apple's link cache has caught up with the site, which can take a while after a release, so the button on the page is the reliable path.
If that still does nothing, note the six-character code on the page and enter it in the app under Join.
The link opened inside WeChat and the button does nothing.
WeChat's built-in browser blocks apps from opening. Tap the••• menu in the corner and chooseOpen in Safari, then tap Open in Pebbles.
Other in-app browsers, such as LINE and Discord, can behave the same way. Opening the link in Safari always works.
Where do I type an invite code?
In Pebbles, Join is reachable from the empty state on Home, the footer of the new-path wizard, and Settings under Sharing. You can paste the whole invite link there too.
It says the code was not found.
Check the characters first. Codes never contain the digits 0 or 1, or the letters B, I, L, or O, because they are too easy to misread.
A code also stops working if the owner created a new one for that path, which replaces the old code. Ask them to send the current invite again.
It says the code expired.
Invite codes last 30 days. The owner can open the path, tap the people icon in the toolbar, and create a fresh invite; the new code works immediately.
The code works, but joining says the path is no longer active.
That happens when the owner has stopped sharing the path or removed you from it. The invite record can outlive the share itself. Ask the owner to share the path again and send a new code.
Sharing a path
How do I invite someone?
Open the path, tap the people icon in the toolbar, enter the name you want to appear on that path, and tap Create Invite. Pebbles gives you a six-character code and a link to send however you like.
How many people can share a path?
One. A path is shared between you and one person. There are no groups, comments, or reactions, by design.
My partner cannot add pebbles.
Everyone who joins is read-only until you say otherwise. Open the path's sharing page and turn on Can edit for them. Deleting the path always stays with the owner.
How do I stop sharing, or leave a path someone shared with me?
The owner uses Stop Sharing on the path's sharing page, which removes access for the other person and leaves the owner's own copy untouched. A single person can also be removed from the participant list.
If the path was shared with you, the same page offersLeave, and swiping the path on Home does the same thing.
Does my partner need to buy anything?
No. Sharing is free for both sides, and a path shared with you never counts toward your own free path limit.
Endless Paths
What does Endless Paths buy?
Unlimited paths, and nothing else. The free tier keeps two paths, and photos, places, hollows, widgets, and sharing are included whether or not you buy it.
It is a one-time $9.99 purchase, not a subscription.
I bought Endless Paths but a new iPhone shows the free limit.
The purchase is tied to your Apple Account and usually restores by itself. If it has not, open the paywall and tapRestore Purchase.
Endless Paths is not shared through Family Sharing in this release.
Sync and data
Do I need an account?
No. Pebbles has no sign-up and no password. Your iCloud account is the only identity involved, and it stays between you and Apple.
Nothing is syncing between my devices.
Sync needs the same Apple Account signed in to iCloud on both devices, with iCloud Drive on and Pebbles allowed to use iCloud in the system Settings. Settings inside the app shows the current sync status.
Without iCloud, Pebbles still works: paths stay on that one device, and sharing is unavailable.
What happens if I delete the app?
Deleting Pebbles removes the copy of your paths and photos on that device. If iCloud sync was on, the iCloud copy stays and comes back when you reinstall the app on a device signed in to the same account.
To remove the iCloud copy as well, delete the app's data in the system Settings under your Apple Account, iCloud, Manage Account Storage.
My widget still shows yesterday's count.
Widgets refresh at midnight and when the path changes. If one looks stale, open Pebbles once; if it is showing the wrong path, long-press the widget and choose Edit Widget to pick the path again.
Can I change the language?
Yes. Pebbles ships in English, Spanish, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese, and the language is set in the app's own Settings. Changing it asks you to relaunch the app.
